Elle Speer

In the early 90’s, Elle Speer, the original owner and designer of The Picket Fence wanted to share the wealth of sewing skills and techniques that she had acquired over the years. She designed 12 monthly 10" blocks — each featuring a new technique — to teach to her students and called it the  Calendar Quilt series. These were quilts using fusible applique that could be complerted in one 3-4 hour class  and students could go home with a finished quilt. Elle then took her patterns International Quilt Market. The little quilts were quite a hit and it didn't take long before The Picket Fence was born.

Elle is inspired by the creative people that she meets.
